Almost everyone seems to be excited for Ghostbusters 3, Jason Reitman’s upcoming sequel to the first two films that will see the original cast return. The plan is to ignore the remake from 2016, and actress Leslie Jones is not happy to hear it. In fact, she took to social media to vocalize one of the nastier rants I’ve seen about someone’s movie being ignored. Quite awful considering the original cast did nothing but support and even act in the remake alongside her.
As she recently rambled on Twitter,
“So insulting. Like fuck us. We dint count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice) ”Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers” ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!”
Leslie Jones continued, “When the point is if they make this new one with all men and it does well which it will. It might feel that “boys are better” it makes my heart drop. Maybe I could have use different words but I’m allowed to have my feelings just like them.”

I understand it must be disappointing to know your hard work didn’t pay off enough to return for another sequel. But it’s not because the studio that also gave you your chance wanted to be like Trump and replace a women’s cast with all men. In fact the plan is to now equalize the cast with both men and women.
Most people are also excited because it’s a sequel in the original continuity everyone grew up with. That means a lot more than a remake which, believe it or not, no one wanted. There’s a reason people have asked for Ghostbusters 3 for decades now. All the remake did was disappoint fans to see the original cast show up only to be different characters.
In the end, Ghostbusters 3 is probably going to succeed and it has nothing to do with the cast’s genders. And that’s the same for the remake – it didn’t fail because of the cast’s genders. It failed because no one wanted a bloated remake with bad CGI effects, no continuity with past films, and an unfunny script.
Hopefully Ghostbusters 3 will improve on all those fronts and deliver a film everyone can learn to enjoy.
