George A. Romero’s 1978 classic Dawn of the Dead will be receiving an all-new 4K transfer! It’ll be screened during this year’s Venice Film Festival, on September 2nd during the festival’s run from August 31st to September 10th.
According to Screen Daily, this version of the film will be the 115-minute European cut, which was edited by Dario Argento. The cut was remastered by Koch Media in collaboration with Norton Trust and Antonello Cuomo.
“I am particularly pleased that Zombi is being re-released after so many years,” said Argento, who produced Dawn of the Dead which was released in Italy as Zombi. “I have great memories of Zombi because it was so important for my career and for George’s as well.”
Here’s hoping for an all-new Blu-ray release as well!
